St Louis-1, Cubs- 2. ONE Game to Go.
Game 1 of the double header is going good for the Cubs so far in through the 4th. Micah Hoffpauir had a 3 run homer to make it 3-0, but Albert Pujols hit a 2 run double and eventually scores on a single to make it 3-3. But BIG Z hits a solo homerun to make it 4-3 for the Cubs.

An error by St. Louis’s catcher, bases were loaded, Schumaker tried to get the force at home, and their catcher missed the plate, which scored Soriano. THEN, Pujlos missed a grounder by Koyie Hill, which scored Hoffpauir and Bradley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7-3 CUBS!! P.J Walters walks Fukudome. Bases are loaded again 2 outs. Theriot grounds out.

Cubs Lose 2-1 Against Braves
The Cubs suffer a 2-1 loss against the Braves. Carlos Zambrano had an early start for Ryan Dempster who is now on the disabled list due to a fractured toe (check post below). We had a healthy roster for about a day, then we get re-injured. Cant we all just be healthy for a bit?
He’s flustered.
We dont need homeruns big guy, we just need hits.
10th Inning Bases Loaded Walk SEALS Win
The Cubs did it again in extra innings. Theriot started it off with a single, then 3 walks later, scored. Jake Fox was up with the bases loaded, he kept the count at 3-2, as he fouled off multiple times, then later got the 4th ball to seal the W. Carlos Zambrano also had an RBI hit. The score was 2-1.
Fukudome made a game saving play with 2 outs. Prince Fielder had a single to CF, and runner was heading for home, Fuku threw out the runner on a one bouncer to Hill. Game saving play of the day folks.
Let’s hope the Cubs can pull out another W today as they take on the Brewers in the 3rd game of a 4 game series.

Well… ill fill in the gaps from what has been going on.
- Wrigley Field was a hockey rink for the Chicago Blackhawks for the Winter Classic. The jerseys for that look awesome. GO KANE.
- Milton Bradley strained himself on his first at bat, a WALK and felt tightness in one of his legs.. so decided it would be good not to play.
- Kevin Gregg and Carlos Marmol are battling to win the spot as “closer” for our Cubbies to replace Kerry Wood.
- Opening Day is in 29 DAYS!!!!!!!!
- Zambrano pitched 3 innings against the Brewers and got 5 K’s! but the team was unable to win. They lost 2-0
- Lou Pinella is predicting 30 homeruns for: Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Alfonso Soriano this year. It could definitely happen!!!
10th Inning 2 Out Rally Seals Win for Cubs! 96-61
I guess I’ll do the scoring plays of the game and good defensive plays. Play by plays are usually too long. I forgot to mention that the Cubs got home-field advantage after they won the first game against the Mets. Just so you know.

Uh oh… DeRosa’s leaving the game… that’s not good….REED JOHNSON WITH A SINGLE SCORING ARAMIS! Murphy MAKES AN ERROR! FUKUDOME SCORES!!!!! WE ARE TIED FOLKS!!! 5-5!!!! Blanco gets a basehit! 2 out rally folks! alright! the score is 5-5!

8th Inning Rally Seals the Win for the Cubs
My commentary while watching the game: You know what? Let’s scratch the bad stuff..
All looked gloomy when Big Z gave up 3 runs in the first inning. Throwing about 35 pitches in just that inning alone..
But in the Top of the 4th the bases were loaded with no outs for Geovoany Soto. A double hit in the gap in right field scored 3 runs in the inning, gaining the lead 4-3.Then Zambrano had an RBI single, scoring Soto making it 5-3.
In the Top of the 5th, DeRosa had a double to the wall at right field, scoring Lee, making it 6-4.
In the 5th inning,things started going down hill…. Fukudome made a great play getting the lead runner out at 3rd, making a good throw to 3rd base. But with a man on 2nd and 1st, Wilson hits an RBI double, making it 6-5. Pitching change is made, Samardzija replaces Zambrano. Ground ball hit to Theriot, Theriot throws to Ramirez, getting Wilson in a run down, getting him out, but scoring an RBI making it 6-6. A double switch is made. Cotts is in for Samardzija. And Mike Fontenot is in playing 2nd base.
In the 6th, Soto had a solo homerun making it 7-6. He has 4 RBI’s.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, man on first, Soriano misses a ROUTINE POP UP, (HOW CAN YOU MISS A ROUTINE POP UP!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) 2 men on. That’s their 3rd error!!!!!!! in ONE GAME! come on now.. we need a 6-4-3 double play badly. Fontenot makes a HUGE diving play, getting the out at first. Good job Font!!! Ugh, 2 run double by Mientkiewicz making it 8-7.. Chad Gaudin replaces Cotts… all right Gaudin.
7th inning is here…We need our Cubbie rally NOW. Lets go RAMIREZ!!!!! alright a leadoff walk.. now we need REED JOHNSON!!! Alright reaching on a walk is just as good as getting a single.. come on Cedeno, MAN!!! with a force out at 3rd, you should bunt on the third base side.. not 1st base side. Aramis Ramirez is up. 3-0 a batter’s count.. and the verdict is…. WALK!! 9-8 CUBS LEAD!!! Pirates pitcher Hansen has walked 3 back to back to back. Burnett comes in for Hansen. No outs. Reed Johnson is up to bat. BASE HIT!!!!! THERIOT SCORES 10-8 CUBS! Henry Blanco’s up. This has been a LONG 8th. Blanco pop’s up to shallow right. Derrek Lee doesnt tag up. 1 out. Fukudome is up.
