Hoffpauir Showed His Stuff: BUT Bullpen? Not So Much. Cubs Lose.

Well the Cubs last game of their regular season.. Hopefully they’ll end it with a big W. Rich Harden is pitching today.. and I just found out that Ryan Dempster is pitching for Game 1 of the NLDS (if you didnt know).  

  • TOP 1st- Micah Hoffpauir gets a SOLO HOMERUN! 1-0!!!  Casey McGehee singles scoring Edmonds!! 2-0!! Start scoring early!!! Woo!
  • BOT 1st- Ryan Theriot bobbles it… gets the out at 1st. Mets get one back… 2-1 Cubs.
  • BOT 2nd- Koyie Hill makes a PERFECT throw to 2nd, Fontenot gets the runner out.
  • TOP 3rd- Theriot walks. Hoffpauir hits one over Beltran!!!!! Ryan Theriot scores! 3-1. NICE HIT HOFFPAUIR!! A double for Hoffpauir.
  • TOP 4th- Holy COW! Harden is FAST. He reaches 1st. NICE HUSTLE!
  • BOT 4th- Basehit past Hoffpauir scores 2 RBI’s… tying the game. 3-3. SHOOT!
  • TOP 5th- And here comes the rain!!!!!! BRING ON THE THUNDER!
  • BOT 6th- Hoffpauir, Theriot.. YIKES… overthrew the ball! All ball players make mistakes.. 3 outs with diffculty.. alright Lou.. I would think about getting the bullpen ready.
  • TOP 7th-  Pie gets a single! PIE STEALS AND SNEAKS IN!! SAFE. Theriot walks! Pie’s on 2nd, Theriot’s on 1st. No outs. Pitching change. HOFFPAUIR HITS A 3 RUN HOMERUN!!!!! 4-4! WITH 5 RBI’S!!!!!!!!!!!!! NICE HOFFPAUIR!!!!!!!!!!! 6-3!!!!!!! Fontenot hits a double! Another pitching change…
  • BOT 7th- Another run for Mets.. 6-4.
  • TOP 8th- Theriot walks. HOFFPAUIR IS 5 FOR 5!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER SINGLE! WOW.
  • BOT 8th- THEY TURN THE DOUBLE PLAY!!!! nice . Bob Howry is in. SHOOT!!!!!! 6-5… COME ON!!!!!! GET OUT OF THE INNING!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously…. 2 outs… COME ON. DONT BLOW THE LEAD!! SON OF A B(#&$#(*&$(*#&$(@*)#&$(*#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY TIED IT UP. COME ON!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! SUCK!!!!!! THIS SUCKS.LETS GO GET THE INNING OVER WITH. come on…. dont blow a lead you have!!! finally! a strikeout! Damage is done though… ugh.
  • TOP 9th- FONTENOT gets a basehit. and thats it…
  • BOT 9th- Alright we need a 1,2,3 inning.. NOW. Kevin Hart is pitching… come on Hart we need 3 quick outs…come on… we need a 6-4-3 double play.. NOW. come on Hart… finally bunted foul on the 3rd strike. 1 out.. thank gosh. FINALLY Hart struck him out.. 2 outs.. basehit and the Mets win… of course.. Howry stinks. I’m sorry. Howry REALLY stinks… he cant keep a lead, and he blows it. Good job Howry…. Better not do that in the NLDS… you’ll get booed out of the stadium…. ugh. seriously?

Cubs Flame Burns Out Too Early In A Loss Against the Astros.

HIGHLIGHTS of Today’s game against Astros.

First Inning:

Zambrano started off the 1st inning throwing upper 90 mph fastballs. 1 strikeout so far.

I think he’s telling us to F*** off and let his pitching do the talking. So far so good Z.

SORIANO CRANKS A SOLO HOMERUN TO LEFT FIELD! 1-0 Cubs.

 

Second Inning.

RBI groundout by David Newhan to tie the game 1-1.

 

Fouth Inning.

Mark DeRosa with a SOLO HOMERUN!!!! 2-1! GEOVOANY SOTO WITH A HOMERUN!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-1 CUBS!!!!!!!!!!! THERIOT WITH A BASEHIT UP THE MIDDLE! GOOD.

 

Fifth Inning.

Miguel Tejada has a 2 RBI bases loaded single tying the game 3-3.

Zambrano strikes out Berkman.

Fontenot with a basehit! and LEE with a basehit! Ramirez with a sac-fly to advance Fontenot to 3rd… but they couldnt get him in…

 

Sixth Inning.

Duhan hits a single and gets an RBI off it. 4-3 Astros. Theriot with a NICE stop. Bases loaded single by Michael Bourn… 6-3 Astros… Howery needs to leave.. NOW. Before Wrigley Field gets violent. Michael Wuertz comes in for Howery.. Theriot turns a 6-4-3 double play. Run scores making it 7-3 Astros.

SOTO WITH A DOUBLE ADVANCING EDMONDS TO THIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOO!!!! THERIOT HAS A DOUBLE!!!! WOO THERIOT!!!!! YEAH THERIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7-5!!!!! 2 RBI’S FOR THERIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIKE FONTENOT WITH AN RBI SINGLE TO SCORE THERIOT!!! 7-6!!!!!! WOO!! Nice pitching and a nice play by Angel Guzman. JIM EDMONDS WITH A SOLO HOMERUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TIED 7-7! YEAH JIM- EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! WOOOOOO!!!

CARLOS MARMOL STRIKES OUT WIGGINGTON ON A NASSSSSSSSSTY SLIDER!!

Bases loaded by walks. Derrek Lee grounded out into a double play…. darn it!

Aramis walks.. DeRosa doesn’t put down a good bunt.. they get A-Ram out at 2nd.. DeRosa’s on first. 1 out. ALL RIGHT Triple A IOWA CASEY MCGEHEE IS UP! Come on buddy!! LETS GO CASEY! LETS GO CASEY! It’s okay… his first major league debut.. Urg.

Eleventh Inning ( ITS NOW 11 OCLOCK AT NIGHT!!! URG)

Jeff Blum hits a 2 run homerun to make it 9-7. Kerry Wood strikes out Mark Loretta on a slider. 2 outs. Another strikeout for Wood. 

Cubs lose.
